Greys Lockheart
Greys Lockheart's practice explores the obscure ways of nature and society; folkloric-ridden motifs; gender roles; and the idea of home as a living thing.
Greys Lockheart is a multidisciplinary artist working across performance, painting, soft-sculpture, installation and video art. Her practice explores the obscure ways of nature and society; folkloric-ridden motifs; gender roles; and the idea of home as a living thing. Lockheart views household textiles as a setting for communication and social relationships. Merging textiles and various materials into assemblages and soft-sculptures, Lockheart examines ways these materials function to protect, negotiate and betray human relationships.
She has shown work in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Brazil, Lithuania, Japan, Germany, United Kingdom, Canada, and the USA. Lockheart founded KLMTW (kalimutaw, Cebuano for “eyeball”) in 2016, an open collective for creative and non-creative focusing on performance and other collaborative projects. Currently she teaches courses in Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines Cebu.
